CAMSC Holiday Newsletter
Message From The President
|

As the year comes to a close, and as we wind down our corporate schedules in an effort to enjoy the fast approaching holiday season, let us take time to reflect on this past year and celebrate our achievements, goals and newly fostered relationships. Achievements are tremendous benchmarks on which to set goals and reach new milestones. On behalf of the Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council, I’d like to express sincere gratitude to those who have contributed to our success and growth this year. As an organization dedicated to promoting business linkages between aboriginal and minority owned companies, and Global Canadian Corporations, we are grateful to our CAMSC Corporate members and Board of Directors, Certified Suppliers, Affiliate Organizations and Partners, for your invaluable support in 2011.
That being said, it is a pleasure to share with you the CAMSC ‘holiday’ newsletter. Enjoy.
Cheers to a happy, safe holiday season. Looking forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Proficiency VS. Popularity: Choosing the Right Players
PATRICIA J. MOSER
Remember when you faced those horrifying moments in school when the teacher chose two kids to be the “team captains” and one by one children were picked. I remember standing there as the biggest, faster and more popular kids were recruited. I knew that I could contribute significantly to the success of the team, not in size, speed, and popularity but in agility, creativity, stamina and strategy. Yet when you are young those things just don’t seem to matter, and as the ranks of the “chosen” swelled, there were always those of us remaining who were praying to whatever god might listen to please have them “pick me” and don’t let me be the last outcast standing! Now, how is this related to Supplier Diversity? Because just like in gym class, it is not necessarily the biggest, fastest or the most popular that provide the formula for success… (READ MORE)

Success Story
Mavron and Grand & Toy: Distributing Office Solutions, Delivering Competitiveness
Building Mavron Tranport Inc. from the ground up has led Manny Bhullar to grow a lean and competitive transportation company, while striving to exceed expectations on customer service levels with round the clock customer support. After Manny migrated to Canada from India and earned a degree in public administration and sociology, he began driving a truck for a carrier in Southern Ontario. Learning the operations and customer service ropes from the inside out prompted Manny to purchase a few trucks of his own and in 1994 Mavron Transport Inc. was founded in Mississauga, Ontario with only 3 employees.
By 2004, Mavron Transport Inc employed over 50 employees and to better service its customers, established locations in Chicago, Illinois, Detroit and later, Buffalo. Mavron Transport continues to maintain a strong asset based financial platform from which it can expand. “We strive on providing our customers with a very high level of service with round the clock customer support and very competitive freight rates” says Manny Bhullar, President of Mavron Transport Inc.
