CAMSC Winter Newsletter – January Issue
|
A Letter from the President
Colleagues, Peers, and Friends:
It’s a delight to welcome the New Year with a fresh perspective, as we greet 2013 with an exciting slate of opportunities, and endeavor to continue our delivery on CAMSC’s mandate: Advocate, Support, Develop, Connect.
There are some significant updates we’re happy to share:
With broader efforts to improve our communications to our members and stakeholders, CAMSC disseminated a communications survey in November. We would like to thank those who participated in this survey and providing us their valuable feedback. Based on our findings, and as a result, we have made slight modifications to the way we currently interact with our members through the CAMSC Newsletter.
In the past, we had ensured that our members and stakeholders received regular, monthly updates, including the Quarterly publications.
Moving forward, wewill continue to provide only Quarterly Newsletters in the following fashion:
- Winter: January
- Spring: April
- Summer: June
- Fall: September
CAMSC plans for 2013 to be a busy year full of fabulous networking, matchmaking and learning events. Please be sure to visit our 2013 Event Calendar and save the dates!
We look forward to working with you to make 2013 an outstanding success, and turn those successes into stories we can celebrate. Singing in tune with any hockey fans, allow me close with wise words from a dear friend: “It’s time to drop the puck.”
Cassandra Dorrington, President

Targets Committment to Support Supplier Diversity in Canada, Through Membership with Canadian Aboriginal & MinoritySupplier Council (CAMSC)
CAMSC is proud to announce that Target joins the roster of leading corporations committed to an inclusive and diverse supply chain in the Canadian market.
In light of Target’s recent announcement confirming more than 120 store locations in Canada, “CAMSC welcomes the opportunity to connect Target Canada to innovative and competitive aboriginal and minority-owned businesses across Canada,” says CAMSC President Cassandra Dorrington. “We are very pleased that Target Canada has hit the ground running with its Supplier Diversity initiative, and that it has already actively engaged with a number of CAMSC certified suppliers in a range of products and services in support of store operations.”
Supplier Diversity at Target
Target launched its Supplier Diversity initiative in 1998, with the mission to connect internal sourcing teams with qualified diverse-owned businesses positioned to deliver strategic business solutions, create competition and drive innovation. Today, Supplier Diversity is focused enterprise-wide and continues to drive value for the company’s bottom line as well as its reputation as a corporation committed to supporting communities where it does business. Target further supports diverse business development through active participation in national and local organizations such as CAMSC. In Canada, Target Supplier Diversity will work solely with suppliers who have been certified by either CAMSC or WEConnect and initially focus in the non-retail space. Target is committed to understanding the Canadian culture and maintaining its strong reputation as a great business, a great employer and a great partner,” says Brad Pomerleau, Director of Strategic Sourcing. “We look forward to leveraging our relationship with CAMSC in the future to identify certified aboriginal and minority-owned suppliers across Canada who can provide innovative, competitively priced products and services.”
