The Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council – CAMSC – whose mission it is to facilitate procurement opportunities between Aboriginal and minority businesses and major corporations, and the Michigan Minority Business Development Council held a Cross Border B2B Networking Forum on June 19th, 2008 at the Radisson Riverfront Hotel, Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
The objective of the forum was to link minority companies, primarily in the Windsor-Chatham area with Michigan Minority Business Enterprises and major corporations and their Tier I suppliers primarily in the automotive and transportation sector on both sides of the border.
Events such as this, help to facilitate the growth and sustainability of CAMSC and MMBDC members, providing them with an opportunity to form strategic alliances for mutual benefit. An overwhelming majority of attendees reported that they were able to identify business opportunities during the event and are actively following-up.
The two hour tabletop exhibition saw suppliers showcasing their products and services to a very attentive crowd. Greetings were then brought by Orrin Benn, President of CAMSC and Mary Brown, Executive Vice President of MMBDC and a more informal opportunity to move from behind the tables and network with the attendees ensued; proving a very productive event for all. The success of this event lays the groundwork for future events of this kind.
