Building Mavron Tranport Inc. from the ground up has led Manny Bhullar to grow a lean and competitive transportation company, while striving to exceed expectations on customer service levels with round the clock customer support.
After Manny migrated to Canada from India and earned a degree in public administration and sociology, he began driving a truck for a carrier in Southern Ontario. Learning the operations and customer service ropes from the inside out prompted Manny to purchase a few trucks of his own and in 1994 Mavron Transport Inc. was founded in Mississauga, Ontario with only 3 employees.
By 2004, Mavron Transport Inc employed over 50 employees and to better service its customers, established locations in Chicago, Illinois, Detroit and later, Buffalo. Mavron Transport continues to maintain a strong asset based financial platform from which it can expand. “We strive on providing our customers with a very high level of service with round the clock customer support and very competitive freight rates” says Manny Bhullar, President of Mavron Transport Inc.
Mavron met Grand & Toy at the CAMSC Diversity Procurement Fair in April 2011. A fruitful meeting marketplace appointment led to an invitation from Grand & Toy to participate in their upcoming FTL & LTL bid opportunities after a pre-qualification process.
Grand & Toy is one of Canada’s business-to-business office solutions company, with 1600 Associates in 26 commercial sales offices, seven customer fulfillment centres, three customer care centres and over 20 stores and business centres, from coast to coast. During Grand & Toy’s annual review of transportation costs, Mavron was invited to an on-line auction for a number of line hauls in their distribution network. Grand & Toy ultimately awarded several lines to Mavron Transport. The lines are critical to the distribution of Grand & Toy’s office and technology products, janitorial supplies and furniture to their customers in Southwestern Ontario.
“Grand & Toy continually looks for opportunities to enhance the overall performance of our business. Mavron’s ability to understand our business requirements, deliver tangible bottom line savings and as a certified Smartway Carrier meet our sustainability objectives won them our business.” Jeff Griffith, Director, Indirect Procurement, Grand & Toy
Prior to the CAMSC’s Procurement Fair, we were unaware of Mavron’s existence or capabilities. We make our decisions not based on whether a firm is a diverse supplier or not, but whether they can bring added value at a competitive cost to the business. Mavron’s inclusion in the on-line auction resulted in significant bottom-line savings which well-outpaced the competition. So not only have we exceeded our savings objectives, we are receiving excellent service. It demonstrates what I have always indicated about diverse suppliers – engaging them makes good business sense!” Patricia Moser, VP Supply Chain Grand & Toy.
“If it weren’t for our certification and CAMSC’s networking events, we would not have had the opportunity to bid on work with major corporations like Grand & Toy. The introduction was invaluable to be able to demonstrate our competitive offerings.” Jeff Culp, VP Sales & Marketing, Mavron Transport
