Welcome to the summer

Welcome to the summer. As we enter July, I marvel at what an incredibly full year it has been already. In May I attended the Supply Nation Opportunity Forum in Melbourne, Australia. Akin to the growth in the Canadian council (CAMSC) , Supply Nation, formerly AIMSC, continues to see growth in the numbers of certified suppliers participating across the country as well as an increase in the number of corporate members who understand and recognize the value of a diverse supplier chain. Prior to attending the event, we had reached out to a select number of suppliers to attend and participate in this global event. As a result of continued access and exposure to the global linkages, I am delighted to report that one of CAMSC certified suppliers actually has established a new global company, GPSI, headquartered in Australia in conjunction with two Australian entrepreneurs. Cynthia Dorrington, one of the principals of GPSI was featured as a key note speaker at Supply Nation’s Perth event.

The second major event in May was “A Taste of Diversity”. CAMSC and WeConnect worked together with Pan Am 2015 to host a half day session that matched up food services companies with potential diverse suppliers. This event generated a lot of positive buzz in the business community and laid the foundation for ongoing business relationships.

The month of June was busy for CAMSC as we conducted two very successful events as and attended a host of other eventsnhighlighting successful entrepreneurs. We kicked the month off by attending ICCC Gala Awards. Congratulations to one of our successful CAMSC suppliers Sashi Foods, who was the recipient of an ICCC award.

Early in June CAMSC held its annual B2B Matchmaker event in Windsor. This year was our first year to partner with APMA in hosting our B2B Matchmaker event. As a result of our partnership, we exposed our certified suppliers to number of new corporate prospects with some very favourable responses. We closed out the month with our Betting on Diversity event at the Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. This event combines an element of learning with business networking at a very interesting and fun venue.

As you can see there continues to be a host of opportunities for suppliers to meet and network with corporate members. Check out our newsletters for our success stories and stay tuned for our update on upcoming events and new members.
